The Egyptian Armed Forces’ Centre for Research and Regenerative Medicine (ECRRM) have signed a contract with American healthcare corporation SYMX to establish in Egypt the International Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research and Therapeutic Centre. The news was declared on 21 August through a statement by Egyptian Military Spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafez.
The deal, according to the statement, is part of efforts by the Armed Forces to support the health system in Egypt and provide advanced medical services.
Addressing the inking ceremony, Director of ECRRM Major General Khaled Eissa said the Armed Forces are seeking to be updated with scientific developments to be able to provide an integrated medical system in line with the vision of the new republic. The stem cell centre will be established in accordance with the most advanced scientific research and cellular therapy, he said.
For his part, SYMX President Andrew Ramos expressed his happiness to sign the contract with Egypt, saying that the centre stands to play a key role in preparing researchers and creating a favorable working environment for them to keep up with the most recent scientific developments where stem cell research is concerned.
