Egypt’s Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hossam Moghazi today, Tuesday 16 December, left Cairo to Kampala in Uganda to check on joint Egyptian Ugandan water projects in Uganda.
Dr Moghazi is inaugurating a heavy equipment site to construct rainwater dams in Uganda’s Kasese District with a USD5.1 grant from Egypt, and also to purify the rainwater runoff courses in the district. Egypt has also singed a contract with Uganda to drill 75 groundwater wells.
Egypt has since numerous decades regularly partnered with Uganda in water projects, financing and implementing most of them. As far back as 1954, Egypt designed, financed and constructed Uganda’s Owen Falls Dam; and has shared in managing it.
