In an effort to build the characters and capacities of homeless children through nurturing and developing their artistic skills, Alexandria’s Museum of Fine Art hosted a group of them throughout last week.
Homeless boys and girls in the care of the the Social Defence Administration, affiliated to Alexandria’s Social Solidarity Directorate, took part in art workshops at the museum during which they practised drawing and forming clay models, learning artistic skills of adept formation and merging colours.
A cartoon film was screened and, after listening to an explanation of the making of cartoons, a brainstorming session was held with the children and they were encouraged to paint the scenes they had especially liked.
The children were also treated to guided tours through the museum’s various sections.
