With the start of the new year 2022, a fleet of new clean-energy electric buses have been introduced in Luxor’s West Bank to carry visitors to the Valley of Kings and Hatshepsut’s Deir al- Bahari Temple.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, 20 buses now run at the two sites: 12 operate at the Valley of the Kings and eight at Deir al-Bahari.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said that the new buses are part of the first stage of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ strategy for developing services at 30 archaeological sites.
On New Year Day, visitors to the West Bank were welcomed with music and flowers as the boarded the new buses.
