The Miss Intercontinental organisation has hosted its 49th edition of Miss Intercontinental on 29 and 30 October 2021 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where 70 beauties from all over the world ran for the title.

Filipina Cinderella Faye, “Cindy” Obeñita, was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2021.

During the final question and answer, Obeñita was asked, “As an international ambassador, do you believe that speaking English is important for Miss Intercontinental? Why or why not?”

Obeñita captivated spectators when she answered, “As an ambassador, I don’t think that speaking a specific language is very important here in Miss Intercontinental or any pageant at all. As long as that woman is a woman of power and grace, commitment, and intelligence, no matter what language she speaks, and that woman is actually a woman of style and substance, then she can win any pageant or any endeavor she is into … I would like to be a source of hope, a source of inspiration on the true power of beauty that is felt in the kindness of our hearts and in the sincerity of our loving actions.”

Cindy Obeñita, 25, graduated magna cum laude with the degree of Mass Communication in Liceo de Cagayan University.

Miss Intercontinental 2019, Fanni Mikó, crowned her successor at the end of the event.

The beauty pageant event was held on the front porch of Sharm al-Sheikh Museum, sponsored by Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Watani started as an Egyptian weekly Sunday newspaper published in Cairo. The word Watani is Arabic for “My Homeland”. The paper was founded in 1958 by the prominent Copt Antoun Sidhom (1915 – 1995), who strove for the establishment of a civil, democratic society in Egypt, where all Egyptians would enjoy full citizenship rights regardless of their religious denomination. To this day when Watani is published as a weekly paper and an online news site, the objective remains the same. Those in charge of Watani view this role as a patriotic all-Egyptian vocation. Special attention is given to shedding light on Coptic culture and tradition as authentically Egyptian, this being a topic largely disregarded or little-understood by Egypt’s media. Watani is deeply dedicated to offer its readers high quality, extensive, objective, credible and well-researched media coverage, with special focus on Coptic issues, culture, heritage, and contribution to Egyptian society.
