A book signing ceremony will be held on 2 February at the Cairo International Book Fair for the Egyptian and worldwide feminist writer Nawal Saadawi’s new book Diary of an 85-Year-Old Child published by Roznama Publishing House.
Before the signing ceremony, Dr Saadawi will talk about her life and books in a seminar.
The book fair introduces two other novels by Saadawi: Soqout Al-Imam (Fall of the Imam) published by the Arab Spring Publishing House and On women, Revolution and Creation published by the Egyptian General Authority for Books. The former was banned by al-Azhar when it was first published in 2004.
Dr Saadawi, now in her eighties, has always caused controversy for her progressive views which were more often than not seen as contradictory to conservative Islamic teachings.
