Justice Minister Omar Marwan has honoured the top ten female judges who passed a foundation course organised by the ministry’s National Center for Judicial Studies (NCJS).
In a statement, Mr Marwan underscored the ministry’s commitment to recognise the efforts and success of top female judges to incentivise them to keep up their outstanding performance and excellence.
He also stressed the State’s commitment to root the rights of women under the constitution, including the right to take up judiciary roles on an equal footing with men.
Until 2021, and basing on Islamic teachings, women in Egypt had traditionally been excluded from judicial posts in which they were required to act as judges, that is to “pass judgement”.
