Earlier this month, the world of Egyptology and Coptology lost Peter Grossmann a pioneer of Coptic Archaeology and Architecture. Dr Grossmann passed away aged 88 on 14 October 2021. He was the scientific officer for building research and Christian archaeology at the German Archaeological Institute of Cairo.
Saint Mark Foundation for Coptic History Studies mourned Dr Grossmann on its Facebook page: “For his great efforts and researches in excavations and documentation of numerous archaeological sites in Egypt, and for his contributions in our symposia, our foundation dedicated the 6th volume of its series “Christianity and Monasticism” in Middle Egypt (al-Minya and Asyut) to him. Our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues and students worldwide.”
