The National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC) in Fustat, Cairo, has organised a workshop on the Sinai Bedouin traditional art of embroidery.
According to Fayrouz Fikry, Executive Vice President of the NMEC Authority, the recent workshop is one of other free workshops on heritage crafts regularly offered by the NMEC to visitors of different ages.
The workshop witnessed large participation of visitors interested in the distinctive art of embroidery used by Sinai Bedouin women to decorate their gowns. This embroidery is characterised by its multi-coloured, vivid, rich decorative patterns. The participants were introduced to the techniques used in embroidery; the types of threads, and the various stitches.
