An Egyptian supply ship left al-Arish maritime port on Egypt’s eastern Mediterranean coast, heading to Syria and Turkey, the Armed Forces General Command announced on 20 February. The ship carries hundreds of tons of supplies and relief aid, including tents, blankets, food provisions, medicine and medical supplies.
The relief was sent by the Ministries of Defence and Social Solidarity, also by al-Azhar, the Red Crescent, and the national Tahya Masr Foundation. The supplies were boarded in Cairo, and travelled by land through the Tahya Masr tunnels under the Suez Canal to the as-Salam Bridge and the international coastal road to Arish.
The supplies sent to Syria and Turkey aim to help alleviate the earthquake-caused crisis for the peoples of Syria and Turkey. The recent devastating earthquakes claimed thousands of lives and injured, leaving in their wake immeasurable ruin.
The Egyptian political leadership has expressed its keenness to support the two peoples during the hard times.
