The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR) has filed a lawsuit before the Administrative Court against the Interior Minister Major General Mohamed Ibrahim for the recent decision he issued regarding official regulation governing travel bans.
The EIPR explained that this decision, which was printed in the official paper, represents a circumvention of the Constitution Article 42 which stipulates that no citizen may be prevented from leaving the country, nor placed under house arrest, except upon judicial warrant, and for a defined period.
“The Interior Minister’s decision reveals the pattern of the government’s affront of constitutional rights through administrative decisions that contradicts them,” Adel Ramadan, EIPR’s legal representative said.
