The General Command of Egypt’s Armed Forces issued today, 8 December, an official statement detailing its anti-terror activity in the period from 1 September 2020 to 8 December 2020.
The statement declared that the Armed Forces had succeeded in finding and destroying terrorist hideouts on a number of strategic axes.
On the northeast strategic axis, the statement read, the Air Forces demolished 437 hideouts and depots, which terrorist elements had been using as shelters and warehouses for ammunition and arms.
The operation resulted in the death of 25 extremely dangerous takfiris—takfiris are fundamentalist Islamic terrorists who consider current Muslim communities kafir, that is apostates who must be battled and defeated—as well as the destruction of six booby-trapped four-wheel-drive vehicles used to carry out terrorist operations, the statement added.
The Armed Forces also said it carried out a number of qualitative operations that led to the killing of 15 “extremely dangerous takfiri elements.”
According to the statement, the army seized three automatic rifles, one sniper rifle, and seven magazines, in addition to a walkie-talkie and a number of cell phones and passports.
It also defused up to 159 explosive devices placed on main roads and destroyed 32 motorcycles used by terrorist elements.
Twelve takfiri’s were arrested during the operations, and legal action was taken against them.
On the naval front, the statement said, Egypt’s naval forces worked to secure the country’s marine borders and territorial waters on the Mediterranean and Red Sea.
On the western strategic direction, the Air Forces managed, in coordination with Border Guard Forces, to conduct a pre-emptive strike against terrorist elements, destroying 21 four-wheel-drive vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition on their way to illegally infiltrate Egypt’s western borders.
As for security efforts on border crossings, the Egyptian forces seized 149,000 pieces of goods not cleared by customs, seven rifles, 160 magazines, and a large amount of ammunition.
They succeeded in stopping 1,448 illegal migrants who were attempting to sneak out of the country. They also seized 39 four-wheel drive vehicles were that had tried to infiltrate the borders, and discovered and destroyed five tunnels in the northeastern strategic direction.
This in addition to conducting a massive campaign against narcotic farms in South Sinai, the statement noted, in which the crop of 101 feddan were destroyed.
“As a result of the valiant combat missions of our armed forces in the areas of operations, two officers, four non-commissioned officers, and one soldier were martyred or injured,” the statement concluded.
