The 23-year-old Coptic woman Sara Atef from Beni Sweif, some 100km south of Cairo, has been reported missing since 27 June. Atef is a student at the English Section of Beni Sweif University’s Faculty of Commerce, and went missing on the day she finished her final examination.
Her family reported her absence to the police, and friends posted her picture on Facebook, asking for help to find her.
A couple of days later, however, a social media page the goes under the name of “Ruwaad Twitter” and carries the slogan of Daesh, also known as IS Islamic State, posted that Atef had converted to Islam. But this has not been formally verified in any way, and the young woman is still missing.
