On the evening of Saturday 14 March, Pope Tawadros II took part in the opening of the LOGOS Developmental Programme, the first gathering to bring together all Church servants who had organised and served in the consecutive LOGOS Youth Forums that took off in 2018, and the LOGOS Leadership Programme, along with those who served in organising the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches in 2022, as well as the meeting of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches in 2025.

The ceremony included screening a film presenting the themes of the LOGOS Forums and LOGOS Leadership Programmes from 2018 to date. A documentary was also shown, recounting the history of the services of the LOGOS Forums Office since its establishment, as well as the activities and services it has provided.

In his opening address, the Pope expressed his joy and pride in his children; the youth who serve in various events and present to the world an honourable and distinguished image of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

The following day, the fifth Sunday in Coptic Lent, known as the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, Pope Tawadros presided over Mass at the Church of the Creed at St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Academy in LOGOS.

Following the liturgy, Pope Tawadros held a meeting with the attendants at the LOGOS Centre, during which he spoke about the history and origins of the LOGOS ministry, focusing on God’s work throughout the past years in all its activities since the beginning of the ministry in 2018 up to the present, and on its spread across many countries around the world.

He also talked about Egyptian identity, and the distinctive civilisational depth and cultural diversity of Egypt throughout the ages, referring to the successive cultures that dominated consecutive eras in the country’s history, and to the role of the Church in preserving this heritage and contributing to the shaping of the nation’s history.

Watani started as an Egyptian weekly Sunday newspaper published in Cairo. The word Watani is Arabic for “My Homeland”. The paper was founded in 1958 by the prominent Copt Antoun Sidhom (1915 – 1995), who strove for the establishment of a civil, democratic society in Egypt, where all Egyptians would enjoy full citizenship rights regardless of their religious denomination. To this day when Watani is published as a weekly paper and an online news site, the objective remains the same. Those in charge of Watani view this role as a patriotic all-Egyptian vocation. Special attention is given to shedding light on Coptic culture and tradition as authentically Egyptian, this being a topic largely disregarded or little-understood by Egypt’s media. Watani is deeply dedicated to offer its readers high quality, extensive, objective, credible and well-researched media coverage, with special focus on Coptic issues, culture, heritage, and contribution to Egyptian society.
