In an effort to bring back the flow of tourists to Egypt, and under the slogan “Egypt in our Hearts”, the Egyptian tourism office in Rome, initiated by its Italian counterpart, invited a VIP delegation of 50 members of the Italian tourism decision makers, tour operators and travel agencies, as well as media persons, to Cairo last weekend.
Saturday morning the delegation held a stand-up in Tahrir Square in solidarity with the Egyptians, where they wore T-shirts marked with the Egyptian flag and the event’s logo. They also carried a 40 metre long Egyptian flag. They then visited the Pyramids area, the Egyptian Museum and some of the most important tourist sites.
Roberto Corbella, president of ASTOI (the Italian tour operators association, of which the Egyptian tourism agency is a partner), and President Alberto Corti, Director General of Federviaggio headed the delegation.
Italy was one of the first countries to lift its travel ban on Egypt in support for the Egyptian tourism sector, confirming the return of stability to the country.
