“Every drop counts” was the title of an awareness seminar held 27 August at the Diocese of Banha and Qwesna in Qalyubiya, and attended by a number of Banha clergy, staff, and officials.
The seminar was held within the framework of cooperation between the Coptic Orthodox Church and Egypt’s Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) in Qalyubiya.
Fr Boulos Gameel, media coordinator of the the diocese of Banha and Qwesna, welcomed the officials who organised for the seminar, and reviewed the comprehensive vision of the Coptic Orthodox Church for ways of cooperation with the State to raise awareness among the congregation for the need to rationalise water consumption, and the methods to achieve that.
Ahmed Abul-Seoud of the HCWW Laboratory, talked of the quality and safety of drinking water; whereas Hossam Mashhour, director-general of the HCWW, screened several short videos on raising awareness of the need to rationalise water consumption, and highlighted the role of the company to coordinate with churches om that score.
Mr Mashhour opened ‘Q’ and ‘A’ session where he answered all the attendants’ queries, and promised more cooperation with the Church through awareness campaigns among congregation, especially women. He invited the attendants to visit the water treatment station in Banha to watch the process of producing and purifying water to drinking quality.
Worth mentioning is that a seminar was held two weeks ago at the Bishopric of Akhmim and Saqolta in Akhmim, Sohag, some 450km south of Cairo, on the rationalisation of water consumption. It was organised by the HCWW with the of aim educating Sohag clergy on raising awareness among the congregation of the need to rationalise water consumption, and methods to achieve that.
