The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed a strategic 25-year partnership agreement with a consortium of two Egyptian companies, Egytrans and Nafith International, to develop and operate a smart truckyard at West Port Said Port.
The project initiative is set to enhance logistics efficiency by streamlining truck movements through advanced digital technology.
At an investment of EGP250 million, the project is scheduled to launch trial operations in six months, followed by full-scale operations within a year.
The new facility aims to reduce congestion, improve operational efficiency, and enhance overall traffic flow in and around the port, reinforcing its position as a key logistics hub in the region.
At the signing ceremony, SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the project aligns with SCZONE’s broader strategic vision to modernise port infrastructure, simplify logistics processes, and enhance supply chain efficiency across Egypt.
He noted that integrating cutting-edge technology and best practices would significantly boost the port’s capacity and competitiveness, attracting further investment and strengthening Egypt’s global trade presence.
The smart truck yard, strategically located just two kilometers from the port, spans 114,000 square meters. It will feature automated entry gates, smart container identification using RFID technology, and a centralised command and control centre to automate truck entry, exit, and clearance procedures. Additionally, a digital registry will be established to manage vehicle, driver, and stakeholder records, ensuring seamless coordination and improved operational efficiency.
This project represents a major step forward in logistics modernisation, positioning West Port Said Port as a more efficient, technologically advanced gateway for regional and global trade.
