On 25 June, Pope Tawadros II attended the graduation ceremony of the first class of Bible study students graduating from Eime Continuing Education Center in Alexandria.
Attending the celebration were the bishops general of Alexandria and members of the clergy including Father Antonios Fahmy who supervises Eime, and Father Abraam Emil, Deputy to the Patriarchate in Alexandria.
Eime was established in 2013 by Pope Tawadros, as one of the first community continuing education centres in Egypt. It is a non-profit organisation that aims to serve the society and build the capabilities of individuals regardless of their gender, age, colour, or education. The name “Eime” is a Coptic word which stands for: Knowledge – Learning – Understanding.
The celebration featured a beautiful hymns recital by the “Heart of David” choir. A documentary about Eime Continuing Education Center was screened.
Pope Tawadros gave a word in which he praised the work of the centre, and its staff. His speech centred on the Holy Bible which he said is a “source of gems” and a “haven for souls”.
He then honoured the winners of the “Know and Read” competition organised annually by Eime, and handed the graduates their diplomas.
