Panic spread among Egyptians following the discovery of bubonic plague in Lybia, at a point some 50km west of the Egyptian border. Egypt’s westernmost governorate of Matrouh is working in coordination with the armed forces to eradicate the desert rats and combat fleas, as well as to get rid of the garbage promptly. Incoming visitors from Lybia are held at the border town of Salloum. The Egyptian Health Ministry is working in close coordination with the World Health Ministry to avert a deadly epidemic in Egypt.
