According to the statistics issued by Egypt’s Central Agency for Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS), he number of tourists coming Egypt from all over the world amounted to 730,200 in February 2018, compared to 539,100 in February 2017. The 35.5 per cent increase has raised hopes among Egyptians that the tourists would keep on coming, and that tourism would go back to being a major source of national income as it was prior to the Arab Spring uprising in 2011 and the ensuing unrest that led to security and economic decline.
