Two training courses in the field of “Green Professions” are now available free of charge in the governorate of Assiut, some 350km south of Cairo.
Assiut Governor, General Muhammad Elwan, said the free courses will be held in the villages participating in the presidential initiative ++Hayat Karima++ (Decent Life) in villages in the regions of Abnub and Al-Fath.
Hayat Karima initiative is part of the State’s sustainable development plan, in line with the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Governor explained that the training programme is a collaborative effort between the Directorates of Labour and Social Solidarity, in partnership with the UN World Food Programme and Binaa’ Association.
Its aim is to provide young people with practical skills that qualify them for employment or to start their own small or micro enterprises in green economy. It focuses on agricultural waste management, compost production, and dried fruit and vegetables. This contributes to maximising benefits from available resources and creating sustainable income opportunities.
The Governor encouraged young men and women, persons with disabilities, and graduates of technical, agricultural, and intermediate education to apply and benefit from this opportunity.
He explained that trainees receive specialised practical training, in addition to a daily transport allowance, 50 per cent of which is paid at the end of each training day (EGP60) with the remaining amount paid at the end of the course. A daily snack is provided during training hours.
Trainees receive a certificate accredited by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Directorate of Labour, and the World Food Programme. They are also given priority for job opportunities available through partner organisations, provided they pass the final exam with a score of at least “Good”.
Regarding the application requirements, the governor noted that applicants must be residents of Abnub or al-Fath villages, aged between 18 and 35, and must pass a personal interview and a career guidance session. Priority will be given to families enrolled in the Takaful we Karama social security programme.
