Today, 23 April, the “Holy Fire” which lighted the church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem on Saturday of light —the day which precedes Easter— arrived to Cairo via the Taba border crossing.
Elhamy Fawzy, a Church servant in Jerusalem travelled to Cairo carrying the Holy Fire which will be placed at the church of the Jerusalem Association in Daher, Cairo. Mr Samir, a member of the Jerusalem Association, was waiting for Mr Fawzy at the Egyptian border and received the Holy Fire. He delivered it to the Association and from there to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, who then distributed it to Egyptian churches.
