As of 16 November 2025, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) started a pre-booking system with designated entry time slots. The update will not apply to tickets already sold.
GEM declared that the new system is designed to better manage visitor flow and ensure a smooth and comfortable entry process, providing all guests with the highest levels of safety and convenience.
Visitors have thus been requested to arrive at the time indicated on their tickets. Booking and checking available time slots can be done through the museum’s official website: gem.eg.
The Grand Egyptian Museum also announced that, beginning 1 December 2025, online booking will become the exclusive method for purchasing entry tickets throughout the week, including public holidays and weekends (Friday and Saturday). On-site ticket sales at the museum will be suspended.
GEM, the world’s largest museum dedicated to one civilisation, stands on the Giza Puramids Plateau, acting as a repository of Egypt’s antiquities throughout its long civilisation, covering eras since predynastic times till the 8th century. It houses stunning pieces and collections, among which are the Ramses the Great colossus, King Khufu’s sun boats, and the complete Tutankhamun’s collection. The official grand opening of the museum took place on 1 November 2025, whereas its public opening was on 4 November.
