An Egyptian week-long medical convoy dispatched by Aswan University to Tanzania has offered Tanzanians free medical care and treatment.
Muhammad Zaki al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the convoy, said in a press release that the medical convoy had examined and offered treatment to more than 300 patients including a large number of children, and had performed 90 surgeries for urinary tract abnormalities.
The press release issued by Aswan University announced that the convoy, which was in Tanzania last August and was the fourth to be dispatched to that country by Aswan University, had completed its mission under the sponsorship of President of the University, Dr Ayman Mahmoud Othman.
The convoy’s mission came within the context of Egyptian efforts to offer free medical care and treatment to peoples in the African continent. Even though the convoy was spearheaded by Aswan University, doctors and medical staff from other Egyptian universities also joined its ranks: Sohag and Assiut universities. Universities from the Saudi Arabia and Kuwait joined as well.
