According to Milad Talaat, member of the national foundation for human rights, official procedures have been completed for the treatment of Samiha Tawfiq in Germany, at the expense of the State. Ms Tawfiq had lost the left half of her face in the blast set off by a suicide bomber in Boutrossiya Church in Cairo on 11 December 2016. The blast claimed the lives of 26 victims, mostly women and children, and injured 49. [ https://en.wataninet.com/features/tourism/church-statement-on-boutrossiya-incident/18265/ ]
Ms Tawfiq had been treated for her injuries in Cairo following the blast, but the medical facilities available could not achieve the surgery required. On invitation of Hungary’s ambassador to Egypt, Ms Tawfiq had gone to Budapest where she underwent a surgery, but it did not achieve the anticipated result. Now the state has allocated 140,000 Euros for treatment in Germany for Ms Tawfiq. She will be travelling once her visa is ready, Maged Salah, head of the national foundation said.
