The Council of Egyptian and Arab Scientists and Innovators has honoured the team of engineering innovation from the Church of the Holy Virgin in Meleiha in Hadayeq al-Qubba, Cairo, by awarding them the Oscar for inventors. The award ceremony was held during the annual convention of the Council. Attending was Anba Mikhail, Bishop-General of Hadayeq al-Qubba churches, and Andrew Magdy Attiya, supervisor of the young inventor team at the Meleiha Church, who was also honoured for his role with the inventor team.
The four teenagers honoured were George Mikhail; Philopateer Ishaq; Helana Nabil; and Silvia Hisham. Their inventions included a wheelchair that operates on solar energy, a smart lighting post, and a cell phone collision alert.
