French President Nicola Sarkozy has awarded the Egyptian businessman and politician Naguib Sawiris the highest French Decoration, the Legion of Honour in the rank of Commander in recognition of his efforts and contribution to promoting good relations and cooperation between the two counties in the fields of industry, investment and community service.
Worth noting that this honour is not the first that Sawiris receives. In 2006, the Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf awarded Engineer Naguib Sawiris the “Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam” which is the highest honour in the State in recognition of the services provided for the people of Pakistan in the field of telecommunications, investment and social work. In 2007, he was granted the French Legion of Honor ####Legion d##honneur#### in the rank of officer by former French President Jacques Chirac. In 2011, He received the Order of “Italian Star of Solidarity,” which granted to him by the Italian government as the largest investment owned by an Egyptian in Italy.
Valerie Pécresse, spokeswoman for the French Government and Minister of the Budget is to present Naguib Sawiris with the medal during a ceremony to be held in her office on Monday 2 April 2012.
