The Minister of Australian Foreign Affairs, Senator Bob Carr and his wife, Helen, paid a recent visit to St Mark Church in Sydney.
On hand to welcome Senator Carr was Anba Daniel, Bishop of Sydney, together with the church’s pastors. The congregation gave Senator and Mrs Carr a resounding applause.
Senator Carr visit tackled the conditions of Egyptian congregation in Sydney on all levels. He expressed his deep interest in Coptic affairs, and paid tribute to his relationship with the Copts and Egyptian Coptic Church in Sydney.
The meeting was organised by John Nour, head of political affairs in Sydney bishopric.
Whenever he paid a visit to Cairo, Senator Carr was especially keen to call on the late Pope Shenouda III, who met him three times.
