As Chairman of the Board of the Coptic Orthodox Endowments Authority (COEA), Pope Tawadros II yesterday 4 May presided over the first meeting of the newly-formed board. The meeting was held at the papal headquarters in the St Mark Cathedral grounds in Abbassiya, Cairo.
The decision announcing the formation of the COEA board was signed by President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on 18 April, as decreed by the law.
The COEA board chairman is Pope Tawadros II, and the members include among them Coptic Orthodox clergy as well as laity. The members are: Anba Pachomius, Metropolitan of Beheira; Anba Sarapamon, Bishop and Abbot of Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi al-Natroun; Anba Pola, Bishop of Tanta; Anba Danial, Bishop of Maadi and Secretary of the Holy Synod; Anba Yu’annis, Bishop of Assiut; Anba Marcos, Bishop of Dumyat and Kafr al-Sheikh; lawyer Munsif Naguib Soliman; Judge Maher Sami Youssef; Major General Youssef Azer Hanna; engineer Bassel Sami Saad; and accountant Kamel Magdy Kamel Saleh.
