With summer holidays in full bloom, the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany and Italy has been keen on holding activities for children.
The Coptic monastery of St Anthony in Kroeffelbach organised its 7th annual camp for children from 15 to 17 June, sponsored by the abbot Anba Mishael and participation of Father Kyrillos Zaky.
Under the theme “The King’s Children”. The three-day camp hosted 130 children from preschoolers to 10-year-olds. The motto: “For you are all sons of God” was there for all to see in German, Coptic and Arabic.
Some 40 young men and women who do volunteer service in the Church, as well as the monks and priests who organised the event were on hand to care for the children, guide them, and organise the activities. The camp focused on spiritual teachings and hymns, in addition to sports, cooking, and artistic creation. There were also games and plentiful fun time in which the children joined with gusto.
The camp closed with Holy Mass and the final breakfast, after which the children were given souvenirs as they left.
In Rome too, a summer camp for children and young people was held from 13 to 17 June 2016 under the sponsorship of HG Bishop Barnabas, Coptic Orthodox Bishop of Rome and Turin. The five-day camp was held at the grounds of the Diocese of Rome, and ran to the theme “Taste and See that the Lord is Good”. Bishop Barnabas met the campers and spent time with them.
