President of Cairo University, Gaber Nassar, has issued a decision banning female workers, teaching staff, or doctors from wearing niqab, the Islamic full-face veil. He said this was to ensure the rights of patients for best possible care, and in the benefit of the work.

A few months ago, Dr Nassar won a case against him by female university staff who insisted on wearing niqab after he had banned it in the interest of the teacher/student interaction required in the teaching process.
