Following a recent meeting between the acting patriarch Anba Pachomeus and the committee for the elections of the new patriarch, Anba Pachomeus issued a decision banning Christian TV channels from holding discussions on the procedures related to the upcoming patriarchal elections. The decision, he said, was for the purpose of ensuring the smoothness and impartiality of the electoral process.
The acting patriarch has officially delegated Bishop of Tanta Anba Pola as the Church’s official spokesperson on the upcoming patriarchal elections.
For his part, Anba Ermiya who heads the Mar-Morqos TV channel, issued a declaration announcing complete submission to the Church’s decision to ban media talk shows to the patriarchal elections process.
