Four Coptic figures have been designated International KAICIID Fellows, the first Copts to join the KAICIID International Fellowship programme for dialogue among religions. The four Copts are teachers at the Coptic Clerical College in Cairo, and were nominated for the programme by Pope Tawadros II. They are: Fr Bishoy Helmy; Fr Matta Zakariya; Dr Adly Anis; and Dr Aida Nassif.
The one-year programme included training sessions in Cairo, Amman, Beirut, and Vienna, and focused on tolerance, coexistence, pluralism and interreligious dialogue.
The new fellows received their certificates in a ceremony held at KAICIID in Vienna.
KAICIID, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, is an intergovernmental organisation that describes its mandate as: to promote the use of dialogue globally to prevent and resolve conflict to enhance understanding and cooperation. The Founding States of the Centre are: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Austria and the Kingdom of Spain; the Holy See is admitted as a Founding Observer to the Centre.
