A protocol was signed today, Monday 6 September 2021, by Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and Houston Museum of Natural Sciences on holding the exhibition “Ramsis the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs at the museum in Houston for six months starting 20 November 2021. The protocol was signed by Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of SCA, and Joel Bartsch, President and CEO of the museum.
Following Houston, the exhibition will move to Sam Francisco where it will run for another six months.
Mr Waziri said the protocol included all the requirements for insuring the exhibits which be displayed at the Houston museum over some 3,000 square metres equipped with adequate showcases, guideposts, and security requirements.
The exhibition includes 181 pieces of antiquity from ancient Egypt’s Middle and New Kingdoms and the Late Period, a span of time that stretches from 2040BC to 332BC. The display will show statues; stelae; rocks inscribed with various scenes and ornamentation, statuettes of gods, birds, and animals; ornaments and cosmetics, as well as coloured wooden sarcophagi.
