On 3 October, the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) witnessed the opening of Silicon Valley factory for mobile phone wearable accessories, and the launching of Infinix brand production line. Both are located within the area of the industrial developer TEDA – Egypt” in the industrial zone in Sokhna, south of Suez.
Waleid Gamal El Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), witnessed the opening ceremony of Silicon Valley and the launching of Infinix production line.
Present was Abdel Moneim al-Khawaja, Chairman of Silicon Valley Factory for Electronic Industries, the first in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa to manufacture wearable mobile phone accessories such as Smart Watches and Bluetooth headphones of all types. The factory is operating three production lines for these accessories, with a production capacity of 3,000 pieces a day per production line, at a total investment of EGP25 million.
Mr Gamal El Dien, said that “the opening of the Infinix brand production line in the Silicon Valley factory is a new achievement of the cooperation between the SCZONE and the industrial developer TEDA – Egypt, whose investments in SCZONE has amounted to more than USD2 billion. Technological industries enjoy great significance among SCZONE’s plans, especially since the location of SCZONE makes it a main gateway to African markets, and its infrastructure and ports are of the highest standards, representing significant investment incentives. “The Silicon Valley factory, he said, spreads over an area of 1,350 square meters, and manufactures all accessories for the giant Chinese company Transsion Holding, which is one of four mega companies in China, and is among the six largest global companies in mobile phone manufacturing and accessories with the largest market share on the African continent in the sales of mobile phones and their accessories.”
Infinix, a mobile accessories brand, is manufacturing its products in Egypt within the framework of the Presidential initiative “Egypt Manufactures Electronics”, with the aim of localising the electronics industry in Egypt,. The company announced that it had begun manufacturing smartphone accessories in Egypt in mid-2023, through pilot operation phase in the Silicon Valley factory at SCZONE. Silicon Valley factory holds international quality certificates, ISO 9001 and 45001, and is built on the latest technological systems and equipped with the latest testing and quality equipment in order to qualify the Egyptian product to global standards. It produces accessories for the Chinese company G-Tide, Infinix, Oarimo, and itel, as well as the UniTronics brand products of the Uni Group, which is the factory owner.
