Beni Sweif University has granted researcher Khaled Fathy Eweiss a Masters degree in Child Psychology, even though Mr Eweiss died a few months ago. He was a member of administrative staff of the university and had already completed the requirements for a Masters degree, but died before a date was scheduled for him to defend his thesis which came under the title: “The difference in social competence between orphaned and ordinary kindergarten children.”
According to Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Sweif University, the decision taken by the university board to schedule a date for discussion of the thesis came upon a request by the family of the deceased researcher.
At the university headquarter, the discussion was held in presence of Madiha Mustafa, Dean of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, and the researcher’s wife and children, as well as a number of the members of the administrative staff and faculty at the university.
The family of the late researcher was keen to place his picture on his empty seat.
The discussion committee of the Department of Psychological Sciences, which comprised Muhammad Hussein, Professor of Educational Psychology and Dean of the College of Education; Marwa Baghdadi, Professor and Head of the Department of Educational Psychology at the College; Ramadan Ali Hassan, Professor of Educational Psychology and Vice Dean of the College; Taha Muhammad Mabrouk, Assistant Professor of Psychology; granted the late researcher a Master degree which it graded “Distinction” in Early Childhood Education.
