President of Electronics Research Institute (ERI), Hesham al-Deeb, announced that Egypt’s Science City for Electronics Research, which is affiliated to the ERI, has become a member of World Technolpolis Association (WTA). The WTA is an NGO based in Daejeon, Korea, and is a UNESCO partner. UNESCO and WTA have been working together since 2005 based on the awareness that important synergies and complementary elements exist between them.
Dr Deeb had visited the WTA in September 2017, met the executive council of the WTA, and discussed the measures through which the Science City could gain membership in WTA.
The Electronics Research Institute (ERI) was established by presidential decree in 1989. It is one of the specialised institutes affiliated to the Ministry of Scientific Research. The activities of ERI include theoretical and applied research in the fields of electronics, communications, computers and informatics; and catering scientific consultancy services to the industrial sector, for both production and services. Currently, ERI comprises seven departments that include more than two hundred researchers, and is among the largest research entities in Egypt.
