On the sidelines of the 7th edition of Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2024 which ran in Cairo from 19 to 21 February, two protocols of cooperation in the field of technical education were signed between the Egyptian government and Elsewedy Electric Company. The government was represented by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and the Ministry of Petroleum.
The first protocol comes in cooperation with Damietta Governorate and Damietta Natural Gas Liquefaction Company. It aims at improving the technical education system and enhancing the learning environment across the secondary school level. According to the protocol, a school for technical education will be established by Elsewedy Electric Company , and will be incorporated within the government’s applied technology system in Damietta. The school will focus on welding, metal forming, electrical installations, furniture trade, and logistics. It should accommodate 200 students in the first year, with a capacity that is expected to reach 600 students in three years.
According to the protocol, the Ministry of Education will coordinate with an international entity to offer international education and diplomas to the school’s students. Elsewedy Electric will operate and manage the school, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources together with the Damietta Natural Gas Liquefaction Company will monitor the project.
The second protocol comes in cooperation with Matrouh Governorate, the Italian company IEOC Production B.V. (IEOC), a unit of Eni S.p.A., and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation. The protocol of cooperation looks to integrate a technical education school in the city of Alamein in Matrouh governorate, into the governorate’s applied technology system. The technical school will specialise in hotelerie; it should accommodate 200 students in the first year, to reach 600 students within three years.
IEOC will undertake the renovation of the school which it will then hand over to the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for testing and operation. Elsewedy Electric will operate and manage the school under supervision of the Ministry of Education during and after the period of the project. The school should start operation as of the next academic year 2024-2025. The Ministry of Education will be in charge of providing the teaching and administrative staff, and Elsewedy Electric will be involved in the selection process. The protocol stipulates that the Ministry of Education will coordinate with international entities in the field to offer international education and diplomas for the students.
Witnessing the signing ceremony of both protocols of cooperation were Minister of Education and Technical Education Reda Hegazy; Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq al-Mulla; Governor of Matrouh Khaled Shuaib; Governor of Damietta, Manal Awad; , and CEO and Managing Director of Elsewedy Electric, Ahmed Elsewedy.
Representing the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in the signing was Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Applied Technology Schools Management Unit. From the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Alaa Adel Abbas Al-Sayed Hajar, Head of the Central Administration for the Technical Bureau, signed. Professor Hanan al-Rihani, CEO of Elsewedy Academy for Technical Education, represented Elsewedy Electric.
Elsewedy Technical Academy was founded in 2011 by Elsewedy Electric Foundation under the niche of social responsibility, to serve the industry by developing the technical education and vocational training system in Egypt and the region, and hence develop the workforce skills.
