Field Marshall Hussein Tantawi announced a decision to grant Copts in Egypt three days leave for them to be able to pay their last respects to Pope Shenouda III who died last evening at the age of 89.
The Pope was widely respected and loved by Egyptians, Muslims as well as Copts, and is mourned by all. Egyptian TV has declared three days of mourning for the Pope.
Watani will be printing a special edition next Wednesday—the Pope’s funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday morning—to commemorate the great man.
