Cairo and Alexandria parishes are under the jurisdiction of Pope Tawadros II. They have reported the highest figures of COVID-19 infections in Egypt.
The recent decision comes in line with the decisions taken by the Standing Committee of the Coptic Orthodox Holy Synod in its [online] meeting on 27 June 2020 when it was decided to leave the decision of reopening churches to the discretion of each bishop according to conditions of COVID-19 in his diocese.
