The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Deshna in Upper Egypt, some 450km south of Cairo, has made an donation of goods and materials to a new mosque that is being built opposite the cathedral of Mar-Girgis (St George) in Deshna. The al-Nuamani mosque, which will will occupy some 200 sq.m, is built independently by the villagers.
A delegation dispatched by Anba Takla, Bishop of Deshna and its vicinity, handed the donation to the mosque. The delegation included three priests, headed by Fr Boulos Metry, deputy to the Bishop.
The move by Deshna’s delegation was met with the warm approbation of the village’s Muslims, who expressed their appreciation of the generous spirit displayed by the Church.
