“Examine me, O God” is the title of a new book has been recently issued by Pope Tawadros II.
Under the title of “God’s Questions to you in the Gospels of the Holy Lent”, the Pope poses 50 questions based on the Gospels of the 40 days and Sundays of Lent, as well as the three days of the Nineveh Fast which comes two weeks before Lent. He provides answers which include encouraging pastoral messages that aim at urging readers to take advantage of the Lent season to examine themselves and advance towards a better life.
The Pope had already presented the content of the book through sermons over the years on the gospels of the Masses and Sundays of Lent till End-of-Lent Friday. The book is a compilation of these sermons.
In his introduction to the book, Pope Tawadros wrote: “Through the Church’s readings during Lent, we find questions which appear, surprisingly, to be addressed to each of us personally. These questions could enable us to examine ourselves.”
The book is currently available at the bookshop of Mar-Mina Monastery in Mariout, the Mahabba bookshop in Shubra, and other Coptic bookshops.
