Pope Tawadros II has declared his intention to pay a visit to the Vatican next May, following the Easter celebrations, to meet with newly enthroned Pope Francis and offer him the Coptic Orthodox Church’s good wishes on his seating as head of the Catholic Church.
Pope Tawadros’s announcement came in the wake of his meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio, Van Paul Goupil, the Vatican’s Ambassador to Cairo at the papal headquarters at St Mark’s in Abbassiya.
It is expected that the discussions between the heads of the Coptic Orthodox and the Catholic Churches will include talks about the dialogue and unity between Churches.
