A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on museum work has been signed between Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and Shanghai Art Museum, China.
Egypt was represented by Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the SCA, and
China’s representative was Hu Muqing, President of Shanghai Art Museum.
According to Mr Waziri, the MoU comes within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to create cooperation and exchange experiences with other countries in the fields of archaeology and museums.
The MoU, he said, would contribute to the long-term strategy of organising temporary exhibitions, which would develop museum work in both countries.
Among other items included in the MoU is exchanging experiences in using modern techniques of researching and restoring artefacts; exchanging visits to museums affiliated to the SCA and the Shanghai Museum; organising training in programmes concerning museum management technology, restoration and maintenance.
For his part, Mr Muqing expressed his happiness at signing the MoU, which reflects deep friendship and mutual cooperation between both countries in the field of culture and arts.
The signing ceremony was followed by an exchange of souvenirs between the two countries: Egypt and China.
