In what is being touted as the ‘biggest Italian event ever in Egypt’, Italian singers and musicians of the famed Teatro di San Carlo of Naples, Italy, will be performing on 11 October 2023 at the foothill of the Giza Pyramids.
The news was announced by Italy’s ambassador to Egypt Michele Quaroni and the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB) Amr al-Qadi during a recent reception at the Italian Embassy in Cairo.
The event is organised by industry giants RMC Worldwide, and is supported by high ranking Italian and Egyptian sponsors that include the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr Quaroni said It will be “one of the biggest cultural events ever staged in Egypt.” The performance promises to be a sensation, bringing the beauty of Italian opera to an awe-inspiring backdrop of the pyramids. The repertoire will include Italian, international, and Egyptian masterpieces, including opera arias by yet unannounced superstar soloists. Details and tickets are expected to be available in mid-August.
This is the first time for the world-renowned Teatro di San Carlo in Naples to perform in Egypt. The Teatro is the oldest continuously active venue for opera in the world. It opened in 1737, decades before Milan’s La Scala or Venice’s La Fenice.
