With a view to combatting trafficking in children, the Egyptian government has decided that, as of 1 January 2024, children under 18 are not allowed to travel unaccompanied to anywhere outside the country.
Instructions to that effect were issued to all air carriers that fly to or leave Egypt by the Administration of Passports, Emigration, and Nationality (APEN).
In the case there is need for a child to travel alone, prior permission must be obtained from APEN.
Egyptian junior sports teams travelling from or to Egypt, which have official approval from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, may travel without prior permission from APEN.
