To help alleviate the humanitarian calamity in Libya’s Derna region on account of the devastation brought by Storm Daniel which hit the site on Friday 8 September, Egypt is continuing it relief efforts to its western neighbour. The numbers of casualties has well exceeded 11,000; Libyan officials say it is expected to reach 20,000.
Egypt has airlifted to Libya large amounts of drugs, medications, and medical utilities on board three military transport aircraft’s. In addition, Egyptian search and rescue teams, a rescue vehicle, and medical teams from the Red Crescent were flown to Libya.
Ten Chinook and Augusta aircraft equipped for evacuation of victims were also dispatched by Egypt to Libya.
