The Russian House in Cairo hosted on 19 May the first event of the cross-year of humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Egypt. The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the support of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Egypt.
The stage of the Russian House hosted folk groups and performers from Russia. Among them were the master of the throat singing Chiltys Tannagasheva from Mount Shoria in the region of Kemerovo; the “Moscow Choir of Rozhechnikov” that introduced the audience to the unique traditional culture of the shepherd horn, a musical instrument with no analogue in the world; the ensemble of song and dance “Khokhloma” from St Petersburg, which performed vivid Russian folk compositions in original processing.
On the side, a photo exhibition “The most beautiful country” illustrating Russian images captured by the best Russian photographers was held at the Russian House. The photos are part of a large-scale project of the Russian geographical society, which started in 2015. The exhibition also featured works of young talented photographers participating in the contest “The most beautiful country through the eyes of children”.
The Russian house in Cairo broadcast the event live on its official Facebook page.
