Donald Trump on LGBT: Living up to his words

Problems on hold

Throughout the last few months, I have repeatedly written about the immoral assault against the family in the West. That assault, which originated in the US and spread to European countries, leads to the downfall of the traditional family, one of the oldest and most important institutions based on the union of a man and a woman to produce offspring. The assault promoted and legislated for same-sex relations, seeing them as a right to self-determination, freedom and gender equality. It disregards the human and social values that established the family as the nucleus of a human community, a family that consists of a male, a female, sons and daughters.

Promoting LGBT and gender transition, and glorifying them has gained so much momentum that the LGBTQ+ movement today boasts its own pride flag and banners which we find imposed on almost all events and gatherings. A news report I recently came upon warned that we are fast approaching the end of all honourable principles on which human values have been based; these are being replaced by diabolic values that push humanity into unprecedented moral decline.

Amid this moral turmoil, I became eager to spot any opinion that opposes the evil trend of supporting same-sex relations and gender transition; I find it hard to believe that the entire western world has given up its legacy of faith and ethics, and does not stand against this torrent of immorality. I came upon many calls by Christian and societal entities that reject woke concepts of sex and gender, and uphold the ethical fundamentals that have always represented the very foundations of society. However, I wondered whether these calls were enough to curb western moral decadence, or if there was a way to channel them into actual reform. The answer came in an address by former US President Donald Trump who is currently facing legal charges which might stand in the way of his running in the 2024 US presidential elections. Truth is that Mr Trump’s legacy as US President has left a negative impression internationally; he is viewed as having harassed friends as well as foes under his ‘America First’ motto, so that many people in the world were happy to get rid of him and have Joe Biden instead. But the Arabic proverb goes: “the winds do not always blow the way the ship desires”, and another says: “Worse than my master is my mistress”. One would be at a loss to decide who is better or who is worse: Mr Trump or Mr Biden? The Biden administration fared worse than imaginable in handling global and American issues, whether politically, militarily, diplomatically, culturally, or morally. I cannot fathom any logical explanation for this but that the Biden administration fell into the arms or under the thumb of the American ‘war lords council’ that controls decision-making and fuels conflicts and wars throughout the world, to promote the arms trade.

Back to the LGBT and gender transformation issue, let me cite what MrTrump said last July: “Here’s my plan to stop the chemical, physical and emotional mutilation of our youth. On day one I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on so-called gender affirming care. Ridiculous! A process that includes giving kids puberty blockers, mutating their physical appearance and ultimately performing surgery on minor children. Can you believe this? I will sign a new executive order instructing every federal agency to cease all programmes that promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age. I will then ask Congress to permanently stop federal taxpayer dollars from being used to promote or pay for these procedures, and pass a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 States; it’ll go very quickly. I will declare that any hospital or healthcare provider that participates in the chemical or physical mutilation of minor youth will no longer meet federal health and safety standards for Medicaid and Medicare and will be terminated from the programme immediately. Furthermore, I will support the creation of a private right of action for victims to sue doctors who have unforgivably performed these procedures on minor children. The Department of Justice will investigate big pharma and the big hospital networks to determine whether they have deliberately covered up horrific long-term side effects of sex transitions in order to get rich at the expense of vulnerable patients, in this case very vulnerable. We will also investigate whether big pharma or others have illegally marketed hormones and puberty blockers which are in no way licensed or approved for this use. My Department of Education will inform States and school districts that if any teacher or school official suggests to a child that they could be trapped in the wrong body, they will be faced with severe consequences including potential civil rights violations for sex discrimination and the elimination of federal funding. As part of our new credentialing body for teachers, we will promote positive education about the nuclear family, the roles of mothers and fathers, and celebrating rather than erasing the things that make men and women different and unique. I will ask Congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognised by the United States government are male and female, and they are assigned at birth… We will protect the rights of parents from being forced to allow their minor child to assume a gender which is new and an identity without the parents’ consent. The identity will not be new and it will not be without parental consent… Under my leadership this madness will end.”

As a presidential candidate, Mr Trump makes a strong case but, given his past behaviour which is not beyond unreasonable excesses, I say: He would do well if he lives up to his word.

Watani started as an Egyptian weekly Sunday newspaper published in Cairo. The word Watani is Arabic for “My Homeland”. The paper was founded in 1958 by the prominent Copt Antoun Sidhom (1915 – 1995), who strove for the establishment of a civil, democratic society in Egypt, where all Egyptians would enjoy full citizenship rights regardless of their religious denomination. To this day when Watani is published as a weekly paper and an online news site, the objective remains the same. Those in charge of Watani view this role as a patriotic all-Egyptian vocation. Special attention is given to shedding light on Coptic culture and tradition as authentically Egyptian, this being a topic largely disregarded or little-understood by Egypt’s media. Watani is deeply dedicated to offer its readers high quality, extensive, objective, credible and well-researched media coverage, with special focus on Coptic issues, culture, heritage, and contribution to Egyptian society.
