The Avant-scène Festival has been hosted in Cairo throughout one week 1 – 7 October by the Institut Francais d’Egypte [The French Institute of Egypt]. The festival aimed at opening channels for theatre lovers to enhance their creativity, and at giving young artists the opportunity to express their theatrical gifts.
Six theatrical groups participated in the technical workshops and theatre-plays by Egyptian and French theatre professional. Among the plays were Hureyat al-Madina (The Town’s Freedom) directed by Muhammad Tantawi; Al-Ush (The Nest) by Ibrahim Muhammad; and Dhahaya Al-Wagib (Victims of Duty) by Fady Samir.
